Tudi-Barn, Reno, Nevada • 1,125 SF

The Tudi-Barn is a single-story residence with a single-car garage that blends the intimacy of a cottage with the practicality of a modern outbuilding. Conceived as “like an ADU, but not,” the design balances independence and connection, functioning as a flexible companion dwelling on its site.

Guided by the owner’s request for a Tudor-meets-barn character, we developed the “tudi-barn” vocabulary: simple, elongated massing; a grounded, utilitarian silhouette; and refined Tudor cues expressed through proportion, fenestration, and detailing. Warm materials and clean lines give the home a timeless yet contemporary presence, while efficient planning maximizes light, privacy, and storage within a compact footprint.

The result is a quiet, purposeful dwelling—modest in size, rich in character, and tailored to modern living.
